Tech Tub 2
Overview
Redesign of the original top-loading Tech Tub. The original design stored and secured up to 6 Chromebooks or iPads. Primary users are K–12 teachers and students in busy, multi-use classrooms. Frequent device handoffs, limited surface space, and the need to secure technology drove requirements for speed, clarity, and safety.

Context
The original top-loading Tech Tub slowed classroom workflows. Removing the tub from storage, lifting the lid and reaching down impeded quick retrieval, obscured device visibility, and created bottlenecks during transitions. It was difficult to carry and lacked cable management. A front-loading approach was explored to reduce access friction and improve at-a-glance status checks while preserving the established ecosystem.
Challenge
Maintain compatibility with Copernicus furniture (easels, fixed channel spacing for storage)
Improved cable management
Varied configurations to achieve storage for any class size
Add in modular stacking and locking between units
Ensure portability and ergonomic handling
Integrate robust security: internal lock and locking front door.
Outcome
The redesigned Tech Tub2 streamlines device management through optimized cable routing, adjustable locking shelves, and integrated side/back handles for ergonomic portability. Key modular updates—including side clips—allow users to securely stack or connect multiple units to form 10-device configurations.
To ensure total peace of mind, security was upgraded with a robust, two-point locking system. Additionally, a dedicated line of cart frames was developed to easily move or distribute tubs throughout school facilities.
